Loose bodies in the knee joint

Restricted blood flow in the knee joint can lead to the creation of loose bodies. They may however also be or become present in the knee joint for congenital reasons, or due to abrasion.

A typical symptom is a sudden, extremely painful blockage of the mobility of the joint with a feeling of constriction.

Possible therapies
Every time another articular constriction occurs, the loose bodies in the joint damage the cartilage. For this reason, they should be removed as soon as possible. This usually occurs by means of minimally invasive arthroscopic surgical techniques.
